The other main sectors of Norfolk’s economy comprise:
- Agriculture and Food Processing, with leading international companies such as Bernard Matthews, Kettle Foods and Pasta Foods all based in the county.
- Financial Services: Norwich has been a financial industry base for over 200 years, as the birthplace of both Norwich Union and Barclays Bank. Today, leading financial businesses such as Aviva, Marsh, Virgin Money, Swiss Re and many others, including the National Skills Academy for Financial Services, are based in the city.
- Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing, which includes the manufacture of aircraft systems, capacitors for mobile phones, luxury custom-built motor cruisers and Lotus cars. The Hethel Engineering Centre is a major focal point for the industries, providing world-class facilities, serving the high performance engineering and manufacturing sector within the region.
- Tourism, with the county attracting millions of holidaymakers and day-trippers from all around the UK, Europe and beyond.
- Creative Industries, with the city providing bases for the BBC, ITV Anglia, Archant, one of the country’s leading newspaper and magazine publishers, and organisations involved in marketing communications, media, literature and publishing, visual arts, multimedia, performing arts and general culture.
